This prestigious tournament, featuring the world’s top badminton athletes, marks the culmination of the 2024 season and will award a total prize pool of $2.5 million.
Format and Participants
The tournament will host the top 8 singles players and doubles teams from each category (men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles). These participants are determined based on their rankings from the HSBC Race to the Finals, accumulated throughout the year across various World Tour events. To ensure diversity, each category allows a maximum of two players or pairs per country. Additionally, reigning Olympic champions automatically qualify if they compete in at least four events during the season【19】【20】.
World Badminton Championships 2024 : Schedule and Format
The tournament will follow a round-robin format, with players divided into two groups of four. After the group stages, the top two participants from each group advance to the semi-finals, leading to the finals on the concluding day【19】.
Defending Champions
The 2023 champions, who will aim to defend their titles, include Viktor Axelsen from Denmark in men’s singles and Tai Tzu-ying from Taiwan in women’s singles.
